Stretchy Won't Hold Pants

This canvas belt is a good concept and looks cute, but its stretch backfires eventually. These straps come in a one size fits all, which I would consider a tight American medium depending on how it fits me (I'm 5ft 7in, size 8, 148lbs). I have a sky blue color that matches the photo. The advantage of this design is that you don't need holes for the belt and you can adjust the belt to your liking - just thread the metal through the loops in the cord. However, the elasticity of this canvas jersey eventually becomes uncomfortable to wear. If you stretch the strap to tighten it around your waist, the strap will try to compress as you wear it. Consequently, the belt sticks out over my pants as much as possible, cuts through my pants and is only held in place by the belt loops. It's quite itchy and uncomfortable when it gets on my skin. An inelastic strap with a strap hole where I want it might be a better option. Overall it looks good but it didn't fit me because of the stretch.
