Although there were few reviews for this product, I still took the risk. Used for the first trip totaling 150 miles at speeds up to 65 mph. When not in use, the black portion of the bracket is easily removed with a thumbscrew, leaving only a small, flat piece of chrome. It's also very easy to remove the entire mount if it's rarely used. The screw pulls and holds tight. Overtightening the thumbscrew can cause problems. But he held on securely as he buckled up.
