Weak, but they work. excluding clear vinyl film; protects it in gear bag

I usually shoot sports at events where flash is not allowed and I have a decent number of really fast lenses. However, my daughter suggested that I take photos at her friends wedding as they do not have the means to hire a photographer. Oh boy. I know f/1.4 lenses can do the job, but I really wanted to find a way to "fill in the dark spaces" that can occur during events where natural light is fading through the windows. It's not just an athlete climbing from one side of the frame to the other; Even if you're outside the narrow depth of field, you still want the guests and background to stand out, albeit unobtrusively. Well, using four spare tripods as lighting stands and purchasing some inexpensive speedlite/umbrella combo mounts to use with the Canon 600EX-RT quartet, I quickly put together an inexpensive but capable rig to add lighting when needed. (I used these little guys to mount RC Speedlites and these umbrellas: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07317T52Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1). In a dark house, these umbrellas spread the light perfectly and evenly like a soft box. Good for $20 a pair. I'm pretty sure they can fill in areas that can't be covered for a small event. Considering I'll be alone at this concert without an assistant and knowing that those soft white translucent Neewer umbrellas could have light leaking out of the corners of the seat at any moment, I need the help of a single 600EX II-RT my camera - this is real consolation (I don't want to (This is someone's wedding.) Just to be clear, I'm using a Canon ST-E3-RT wireless controller on my DSLR to power a 600EX-RT supply, one under each of the four umbrellas, and a Canon 600EX II-RT on my DSLR's L mount. I use tungsten filters instead of speedlites and that should add some warmth that works. This way I can use my expodisc regularly, to do a custom white balance during the wedding and after the reception I will report the results but I'm sure it will work.

Pros
  • It acts as a very large softbox at a very affordable price.
Cons
  • Long delivery
