Their cases are made of a soft rubber like material, not hard metal and the lenses never come in contact with the inside sides of the cases. This is the best product of its kind and they even have a stand that you can mount them on for convenience. I have 3 pairs of readers, one in my home office, one in my bedroom and one I carry with me everywhere in my pants pocket. I also have a pair of the reading glasses. These are high quality, well designed useful products that are a very good value for their intended purposes and I highly recommend them.
