I thought these lights were great until I used them in a special way. They are small and handy, with great brightness, easy to install and charge. The 3 position switch (on/off/move) is also a nice feature. In many situations they would be ideal. Unfortunately I try to use them where they don't work properly and this might be a common problem for others. I have a pantry next to the kitchen, there is no light in it. There are many things that we often use in the closet. I was hoping to put a light in the closet so it would sense movement every time we open the door. If the nearby ceiling lights in the kitchen are off when we open the cabinet door, the motion sensor works fine and the light comes on. The problem is that we don't walk around in the dark when we cook, so the light is on in the kitchen. If there is ambient light in the room during the day or if we have other light sources in the evening, the motion sensor does not trigger when we open the closet, even if it was completely dark in the closet before opening. Turning the light on and off manually (or holding your hand over the detector as recommended on the side of the box) is not desirable when you have other things on hand. Also, we placed it higher in the closet to make it inconvenient to reach. If I could solve this problem I would give them more stars but I'm only giving 3 because the light doesn't turn on when needed. Update: Thanks to Brian Waite's video on disabling the light sensor, this motion sensor works the same as me. hoped. Thanks to Brian for the instructions on sticking on the daylight sensor. Now it works great in the pantry. Now I give them 4 stars. If the manufacturer adds a manual switch (or makes the existing switch 4-position) to be able to turn off the day sensor, these lights would be perfect and would meet all the needs of normal use.
