I am very pleased to repair two keys for my Lexus but as others have said putting a new block together is very difficult but not impossible. You need to carefully disassemble the broken key holder and carefully remove the internal component (where the battery is located). The actual "stick" key then has to be removed for the old (broken case in my case). Read the details to understand how to assemble a new case/key holder. The two halves are plastic and may break during assembly, so DO NOT force the parts together. I used a small pair of pliers to GENTLY squeeze the piece. I also had to use a small metal file to smooth out some of the edges of the plastic case to "squeeze" everything together. went to the lexus dealer for a new key box, i'm sure they would charge $$$$$! So I fixed two keys for over $7 and I think my new key case is better than the one in the car! Assembly requires time and careful/gentle movements - do not push the parts together. Everything is closed. I'm so happy I made it myself! And I'm 68 years old and I have poor eyesight. So have reading glasses and a magnifying glass handy, as well as a tiny screwdriver (one was included but I needed a longer handle), small pliers and a small metal file. Worth an investment <10$.
