German steel but made in China - beware of rust spots
This set was intended to replace a 25 year old knife set made in Japan. While older knives lost their sharpness with prolonged heavy use, none of them ever developed rust spots. The KitchenAid set is great and cuts the steak like hot butter. However, rust spots appeared on some of them almost immediately. Before I bought them all I could see was that the steel was "German made" but I should have guessed they were made in China like 90% of most stuff here. For what I paid I estimated rust could appear in a year but not in 2 weeks.
