I didn't use them for hair care. I actually bought them to squirt juice in my mouth after jaw surgery (much better than using syringes all the time). They did a great job for that! There is no cap, just an open hole at the top of the nozzle, so naturally they will leak if knocked over. Although it worked great for my purposes.
