In theory they seem to be good heavy rope clamps. I use them to make dog leashes out of climbing rope. The 3 star rating comes from the fact that these ascenders only have one grip/point which prevents the rope from slipping in the middle of the ascender. When you pinch two strands of rope, the spikes are between them and do not catch any part of the rope. Even when firmly clamped to the correct size rope, any reasonable force will cause the rope to stretch. If that doesn't bother you, they seem to be of good quality. But if installed as intended, they are useless. For me it was a waste of money and I am now looking for other clamps to order.
