These are some of the "upscale" Vans that have some padding, suede, etc. As with all Vans, the midsole gets damaged fairly easily. They are very comfortable and take a little longer to put on than other shoes. The insoles are glued on, but you can just rip them out and put on better ones. The only thing about these shoes is how good they look with most outfits because they are pretty uncomfortable and I just want to rip them off when I get home.
