Review on Pureformance Grain Free Chicken Dog Food by Grandma Lucy's - 3-Pound Bag by Cindy Hurst

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Dogs love it at Dogs

I can't feed raw so I give quality dry food mixed with dehydrated food (Honest Kitchen) or freeze dried food (Granny Lucy). Grandma Lucy's Pureformance is her potato-free version of the Artisan line. Both lines are freeze dried, which is less harmful than dehydration (although I don't despise dehydration at all!). Both lines rehydrate VERY well and can be served quickly in about 5-10 minutes. The Pureformance line definitely has less garlic smell compared to the Artisan line, although the garlic smell doesn't bother me in any way. And no, garlic in normal small amounts is NOT bad for dogs as some say. It takes a face full of garlic to threaten a dog. The amount used in this food is particularly good for their teeth and for eliminating harmful bacteria or parasites in their intestinal system. I gave it 4 stars because I disagree with the lack of chelated minerals and probiotics. Sure, freeze-drying is MUCH less harmful than cooking, but in today's polluted world, regardless of the quality of the staple food, a dog needs a supplement of chelated minerals and probiotics. Even a raw dog should add these foods to their diet. Either way, great food!
