Replacement sink water filter

I installed these filters and the water tasted like tap water. I pulled out the filters and did the first use procedure from the GE manual and the taste was still weird. Within a week I filled and emptied the tank 10 times but the taste never improved. My wife and I bought a different brand of filter and installed it and the water immediately tasted better.
