Good gate but be careful install the lock where little teeth can't reach

I have three pugs all about two years old. When we first got them we installed some permanent metal gates on each side of the living room dividing the house so we could keep them either in the back of our house with access to the garden or in the kitchen. That's great, but sometimes you need extra time slots. When my husband is fiddling with his hands in the bedroom or bathroom, the puppies get very upset when a solid door closes them. This gate is a very good temporary solution to block the door so our dogs can see from the other side. These goals are good because they are quite light and not too high. It's high enough to keep 15-20 pound pugs from jumping over it, but low enough for my husband and I to step over it fairly easily. (I'm 5ft 8" and my husband is 6ft.) The gate is fairly typical of this style with a diagonal plastic grille for your pets to see through. A pair of hinge bars, one with a series of slots, and the top bar is fixed. You slide the two halves to change width, and a series of notches allows you to lock it in place at your chosen width. It works well although I felt the wood could be handled a bit better. It's slightly rough when you run your hand over it, but not so rough that a splinter or knitted garment won't snag. The only thing to remember when putting it on is to make sure the attachment bars are on the opposite side of your pets. Not because they can open it, but we caught them gnawing on those bolts because they're the only thing that's easy to reach and bite into. Leave marks on the door frame. When they're not blocking the door, we lean them against a small bookshelf to protect the bottom row of books whose spines have been gnawed off. In general we like the gate and the price is reasonable. I recommend it.
