I love vitamin C in skin care. While you can buy vitamin C serums that contain only (or mostly) vitamin C, this serum contains a number of nourishing skincare ingredients. I love that it contains sea buckthorn oil and carrot seed oil, as well as various plant stem cells. They are all great for skin repair, anti-aging and problem prevention. I'm new to this particular brand and so far I'm impressed. Somewhere in the reviews there were four issues I wanted to resolve. Coloring first. Again, this is a vitamin C serum, but it has a plethora of other health benefits. Orange wouldn't be great in a pure vitamin C serum, but that's to be expected here. When I saw that it contained sea buckthorn oil (which is naturally orange), it was logical to expect an orange hue. Secondly, in terms of taste - there is no additional "flavor" here, but it does have a smell that is original to some of the ingredients used. In this case, you're picking up a citrus scent from grapefruit oil (no oranges, no perfume). Three textures. It should be smooth but thick. Separation of the product is possible - just shake the bottle. Fourth, the use of phenoxyethanol as a preservative at the end of the ingredients list). There was hype for avoiding this. There is a lot of information indicating its toxicity at high concentrations, but its use in skin care is minimal. I'll let you research it. At the same time, I'm in my 40s, I have fairly clear skin with no wrinkles, and I want it to stay that way for as long as possible. Vitamin C serums are an easy and inexpensive way to help your skin. I don't have rosacea and keep it under control by making careful skin care choices. This serum is gentle on my easily irritated, sensitive skin. I apply a generous amount to a freshly washed face, neck and a little on the chest in the evening. Since it contains hyaluronic acid I make sure to use a moisturizer after it settles in the hyaluronic acid the humectant pulls moisture through the environment or through your skin so you want to create a barrier to products containing these to lock in moisture. I've oversimplified this, but that's more or less why he says you should use a moisturizer on top (and why, if you don't, your skin might feel/look dry over time). Every other night I use their retinol moisturizer, on the opposite nights I use a stronger barrier cream like Cerave. I'm still using my 2 bottles but so far I'm loving it. I keep an eye on my reviews and always report back if I learn something new (good or bad) or think I'll add something useful.
