I bought it for a hike where we won't be.

I bought this for a hike where we didn't have electricity and it ran on 8 D batteries. However, I thought it would be more powerful when used at home with an AC adapter - it's not. I just thought it would be more powerful running on electricity than batteries. It's good for camping, I will still mainly use it for that.
