As noted here, the new Samba seems to have a problem with the round part of the sole under the ball of the foot. I've been wearing Samba for years with no problems. I ordered a new pair and immediately noticed that the outsole rubber was darker and less pliable. When I first wore them to the gym, I stepped on something rubbery right at the beginning of the sprint kegel exercise. When I came back to check I found it was a large piece of my shoe. On my next pull, the second boot burst. I used to wear them every 10 minutes. My previous shoes, ordered about a year earlier, had the same issue but it took just over a day to show up. Maybe it's time to switch to another brand. Update 12/11/2018: New shoes, same problem. I started using another pair in August and in early December the sole on one of them broke in the same place as all the others. I only use them for weightlifting and basic floor exercises and as you can see from the photos the rest of the rubber has hardly any wear. The rest of the shoe seems fine, but the circles are a definite weak point that negates the excellent quality. To a different shoe/brand for me.
