I ignored the extremely negative reviews of the 702B here and bought the monitor anyway. Other sources of information gave much higher one-sided estimates. Also, I have years of experience with ViewSonic and have never had a bad experience. The monitor arrived and was installed. There were no dead pixels and it worked perfectly right out of the box, even before installing the drivers. The monitor itself is very attractive and the images are bright and sharp. I didn't notice halos at all. The refresh rate seems to satisfy the most demanding video games my grandkids enjoy. However, I have found that adjusting the resolution of my graphics card to the optimal native resolution of 702b (1280 x 1024) significantly improves the look and performance of the game. Our preferred resolution setting (1024 x 768) causes absolutely no problem with other applications and is not a problem. Making changes only takes a few minutes and is well worth the effort, rest assured. The onboard controls are sufficient for critical adjustments. The default brightness was a little high, but that's because the graphics card was set up for the original monitor. A quick tweak to the Maps panel immediately solved the minor issue, adding even more richness and depth to the color and contrast. I highly recommend syncing your graphics card with your monitor for the best viewing experience. A great key feature is the ability to tilt the screen design more than 90 degrees. Too many monitors these days come with a fixed stand. This feature is important for indoor use where light fluctuations and glare can occur. The 702b doesn't have height adjustment, but the one they chose as standard is perfect. It's not as sharp as my 19" Sony, but it wasn't $700 either. I bought this unit for a Dell 8100 that I brought to our beach house to replace a bulky 17" CRT monitor "The 702B is a great value without compromising on quality. Many visitors to our second home praise the excellent pictures the 702b produces, so that opinion is shared by others. So I'm pleased to see the mixed reviews here at Revain. I hope this gives others more information before making a purchasing decision.
