I was suffering from something called "drive finger". If I work at the computer all day, I may have overstretched a tendon or the area around it, causing inflammation. The first thing to do with this from what I've read is to give that area of the hand a break. And when you're typing all day, it's hard to remember it all day. With this device, I was able to keep my three most important fingers steady and relaxed while the other two continued to work with ease. It helped a lot! And it's reusable, I'll keep it for future situations. It fits perfectly on my left hand even though the whole thumb is for my right hand. The shape and flexibility make it the perfect fit.
