Review on Vie Long Professional Shaving Wooden Handle by Azizah Jefferson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like it more than a badger!

First of all, I strongly recommend you to buy this brush. Horsehair isn't very popular in the wet shaving world, but I honestly have no idea why. I'm going to break down every aspect of my feelings this way. Out of the box: First I had some rust on the chrome bulb. I think that was because they were long in stock due to the small market for this and other horsehair brushes. About 45 seconds of Never-Dull polishing caused this and is likely a separate issue. I also saw a video review that said they smell bad out of the box. this is not my experience. It had a very faint smell when I held it right up to my nose, but it didn't smell like barnyard or anything. I'm guessing it's something they use for sterilization. Anyway, it's not a bad smell and I didn't bother to clean it before use. After the first shave it smelled like nothing but my shaving soap. The brush is very well built, well weighted, the handle is a good size for an average hand and just looks great. Charging brush and shaving cream: I use softer shaving soap or hard shaving soap pads. It works very well with each of them. I've had the best badger brush before and one of the reasons I skip it is because it's so soft it's difficult to load. This brush is durable and holds water well so loading is quick and easy; similar to a wild boar/bristle brush. When foaming, it whips up the foam very quickly with no problems. Applying Foam: This brush is simply amazing for applying foam. Some people use two brushes; Boar brush and badger brush. This is totally unnecessary if you have one of these. Not only does it lather very well, you can apply it however you like. If you like the soft application of the roof brush, you can apply a stroke brush and get the same feeling with this brush. If you prefer boar combing, you can use this brush in a circular motion and get that feel. After the shave: The brush is easy to clean and although it is claimed that horsehair brushes require it, it does not require combing. . I just rinse it off, shake off excess water and place it on a shaving stand (bristles down) on the vanity. It's ready to go the next day. In summary, I love this brush and it's my only one now. It's well made and made from gathered hair to keep horses from dying a horrible death, or at least not to make a shaving brush. Also, you can't get a better brush for the money. I have used similarly priced badger brushes and they have thrown hairs into my shaving soap and onto my face. Not cool. About three small hairs have fallen out of it since I've been using it and it's worked great. If you're looking for a great shaving brush at an unbeatable price, this guy is definitely your ticket.
