I have an open side porch and a small yard around it that I like to hang out in and where mosquitoes often roam. This scarf is perfect for the needs and looks cool too so I don't mind if the neighbors see me wearing it. It keeps bugs out of the areas I cover with it like my neck, but I can also wrap it around my head and neck because there's a lot of material there. Now I wore clothes with permethrin when I first got them. , in the army. It works but will fade over time, whether from washing or exposure to direct sunlight. But it's great if it's still as effective as it is now. Mosquitoes and other insects do not disturb. But even then they wouldn't break the barrier because the scarf is loose fitting and has a lot of folds. I like it, can happily recommend it for the same purpose.
