It's not quite black, it's dark brown and that's ok :) The threads of the buttons inside should be covered so they don't get caught in the zipper , that's my recommendation. I love this bag :) It starts at the top of my thigh and hangs down where my hands touch my hips. This is quite a large bag, I washed it when I received it, it's quite thick and dries quickly, very little color came out in the wash which I appreciate (careful use of the product). my walks, the zipper works well and there is a small pocket inside :)
