Review on πŸŽ’ Optimized for SEO: Osprey Manta 24 Men's Hiking Hydration Backpack by Marco Hubbard

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good daypack but needs some adjustment

The Manta 24 was purchased as a small daypack for a 10 day Mont Blanc tour in Europe where we took very little. Food and no lodging, cooking or camping gear. It fits my first aid kit, raincoat, fleece, emergency tent, lunch, 2.5 liters of water and other small items but no more, just right for a day pack. This is my second Osprey and I generally like the quality of their packs, but if I were the designer I would make some adjustments. The top compression straps on the back of the pack work, but unless the pack is full they crumple when tightened and they appear to be sewn in the wrong position. The side pockets at the waist have a rounded zipper that is difficult to open when you are on the move. I had to unbuckle my belt to actually open them for my energy bars or compass, small items I like to grab quickly and then put away without stopping. annoys. The hydration pack works, but the tube is stiff and quite long. When it was inserted into the small hole provided for it at the top of the backpack, it brushed my neck. I couldn't twist it so it was out of wah so I ended up poking through the zipper used to insert and remove the bladder. He was actually standing on the side. The hip belt is narrow and minimally padded. I weigh 197 pounds. It may be fine for the little traveler, but the small strap tangles with my pant belt. I prefer a wider belt, maybe 1 and 1/2 inch thick. I have a 40L REI backpack with a wider strap and that's a nice feature. On the plus side I don't use hiking poles so I used one of the straps made for them to hold a tie to wipe sweat which worked great. I like the small outside zippered pocket for frequently used items. on the climbs. I love this feature. When you're on the flat or downhill, you can loosen it up and let the air circulate to your back, where I sweat the most. When the backpack is loaded and tightened on my back, it feels comfortable, which is very important. on a long hike. I love this backpack but at $160 it was a bit pricey. If the designers had worked on the settings and made it more user-friendly, my recommendation would have been more enthusiastic. Give him 3 stars. I would like to consult with Osprey to improve this package.
