Very slow response time. Difficult to locate the leak

Extremely difficult to locate the leak. It detects a leak very slowly. You have to move it very slowly or you will bypass the leak before it alerts you. It should have ticks like the others. Was the ticking or beeping faster when you got to the exact spot of the leak?
