They still work
I have used four of these in various off grid solar panels. The easiest to describe is a 12V 25W solar panel that plugs directly into one of them. I then connected two 70wh batteries / charged from the solar panel. With this setting, I was able to keep my batteries stable with no hiccups. These are among the few that don't generate significant radio interference, probably because the device itself is made of aluminum. They can also accept an input of up to 24V, which is ideal for open circuit 12V solar panels.
