I started shaving as a kid. Not a good experience for a young man, cut himself several times. Around the same time my father bought a Schick injector. Later I bought Atru. I loved this Atra razor and took very good care of it and used the same Atra from the early to mid 70's until about two years ago it became difficult to find blades. Bought a fake Schick on Revain made in India and used Schick blades which were also hard to come by. I used it for two years, then I decided to give double edged technique a try again. After careful research I settled on the Parker 99. A surprisingly good choice. I really love this shop. Best of all, blades for this bad boy are very cheap and plentiful, and have been with no end in sight since the 1920s. So I packed up my old stuff and got this. My advice: just wash your face well, lather it up well with a brush and shave slowly and carefully, then there will be no cuts or burns from the razor. I was in no hurry because I remembered how they cut me back then. It's best to go slow until you master your own technique that actually makes morning shaving a pleasant ritual. This is the essential part, heavy and solid. Just let its weight work as you slide it across your face, it's a good thing, glad I bought it. I'm currently looking at a few more double-edged razors, like the Parker 98 and the Edwin Jagger, just to change things up. but this Parker 99 is a nice change. very close shave, one pass down and two up, very close shave. After shaving a few times with this razor and feeling relaxed and comfortable, you will see how well and cleanly you shave. Suddenly you realize that the companies that advertised 3 and 4 blade razors were just selling you products for all these years and you fell for it. They created a market by convincing men that their product works better than a blade and that more blades are better in the mind, remember the line. "The first blade lifts the mustache and the second blade cuts it before it can ricochet." Yes, right.! In my humble opinion, this single blade shave is much better. Try it. you will be rewarded UPDATE: The best razor I've ever made. I have since bought a Parker 66R and a Parker 82R. I have a Parker 82 in my travel kit because I don't like the feel of the turning knob. and Parker 66 which I recently used because the handle is perfect for shaving in the shower. I've tried to convince my son to just give it a try, but he finds the double-edged razor archaic and dangerous. Unfortunately, they've convinced him that to get a better shave he needs to change the blade every few days, and, poor boy, he's using a razor that's almost cost him a bank loan. Sound. hahaha. from a young man. he will come one day. Check out these Parkers, I'm not kidding, these are really good razors, now I'm really looking forward to my morning shave. this) to put the blade in the head and close the head and see if the blade is evenly placed on both sides. If not, send it back for a new razor. I bought three, they were all perfect straight away. I hope I have helped you with your purchase. much luck.
