The new seal is already installed. Don't forget to remove the old gasket!
I installed this on a 2006 Mustang v6. This is compatible with all v6 Mustangs between 2005 and 2009. The thermostat and all gaskets are pre-installed. The image in the listing shows a gasket that is separate from the case, but my unit came with this gasket pre-installed. If you remove the old thermostat housing, make sure the old gasket came with it. If not, make sure you remove it as the old gasket often sticks to the engine and you don't want to squeeze it under the new gasket and potentially cause a more serious leak. Also, this job is very easy and you should be able to complete it within 2 hours.
