Secret weapon against myofascial pain

I’ve had musculoskeletal problems my whole life, the worst being an inwardly rotated left shoulder. I’ve spent the last two years rehabbing it, to the point where it was nearly normal, but the muscles in the shoulder and upper arm keep wanting to shrink back.I first had a TENS device applied to the shoulder during a massage session my wife got me for a gift. The improvement was fast and significant. I assumed these little devices must be expensive, and was excited to learn how wrong I was when I got home and looked them up on revain.I understand from online articles that the studies on long term pain suppression are mixed. But for myofascial rehab, this thing is gold. You can get blood flowing to the tight, hot spots with no trouble at all. The nice warm, loose feeling persists for quite a while, and facilitates really productive static stretching exercises. For people with hot, tight muscles and tendinitis, I can’t recommend getting a TENS device highly enough. This is the only one I’ve had, so I can’t say whether more expensive choices work better. I can say that at the time of this writing, ALL the choices are more expensive, and this one is great. So it seems like a pretty logical choice. The UI is not super intuitive, but it’s also not terribly complicated to figure out. The only real complaint I have is that the pad storage is too small for the large pads, and can only store one wire’s pads at a time, so if I were to run both channels, I would have no place to put the second set of pads.

Pros
  • Stimulates the body's natural healing processes
Cons
  • Some users may find the device to be too complicated to operate
