Setup was very easy, just plug and play. After an hour of use, the device only warmed up slightly. and a 2 TB hard drive (NTFS). Played the latest video codec (the one that fast forwards older MPs). Played video files up to 1.5 GB (I don't have more). Frame by frame in FF (very rough, minus). The remote control must be pointed directly at the device, but works at a distance. It responds very quickly to remote control inputs. The final remote control will have buttons with a pleasant It has a translucent menu, but I don't take that as a positive sign. Saves "resume" for each file played, not just the last one! Switching power supply 5 V, 2000 mA. , and now there is. A loud "clap" can be heard in the TV speakers when it is switched off. The large indicator t lights up and changes from green to red (off). As for the remote control, most of the buttons are the same as on my previous media player. However, the left button on the circle is not "Back" or "Back". In the center of the circle, a large round "OK" button opens folders and starts playback. However, the left button of the circle is still not "Previous" and the OK/Play button does not stop the video from fast forwarding. A tiny "pause" button is used instead. While paused, pressing the large OK/Play button will not resume playback. Again, the tiny "Pause" button must be used. The buttons are mandatory, use the remote control, a little annoying. And remember that the remote control must be pointed straight at the device, otherwise nothing will happen. For me, the main attraction is the big round button, not the little "pause" button. The lack of buttons that duplicate "Return" or "Back" means you have to keep hitting the "Return" key to navigate through the menu. A second click on "OK" removes the file information from the top of the screen and leaves the "Back" button intact. Removing just that one feature from the back button was a huge relief. On the plus side, the video aspect ratio button labeled "16.9/4.3" does wonders for the display, and the picture is very sharp and the audio is crisp (except for a faint hum or AC hum). There doesn't appear to be any manual selection of the internal video and audio settings, but these settings are made automatically as well. I couldn't find any audio settings other than "Stereo or Left/Right" in video mode. The whitewashed "dropdown" menu wasn't functional, but a firmware update will likely fix that. The music audio player is good, but more colors could be used to represent the spectrum. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to display mp3 information, nor an equalizer to change the sound. When I found the dropdown menu with the equalizer and color change, the menu didn't work (but wasn't grayed out). Press and hold one of the three speaker buttons at the bottom of the remote control to increase or decrease the volume (max. 30). Discovering this attitude confused me for a while. ------ Micca Speck G2 is one of the best media players of its kind, but it's smaller than a pack of cigarettes. The device and remote control would have been better in a larger size. I agree with the positive reviews here, but I feel this media player is a bit overrated. AC noise in the audio and "pops" when turning off are strong disadvantages. The Micca Speck G2 can be powered via the USB port as shown in the Youtube video. BE CAREFUL. I will not recommend that you do this, just providing some information. Requires a cable with a 3.5mm x 1.35mm lug (and the lug must be positive). Find "Power over USB" in "Questions". Some say yes, others no. This is because the HDTV's USB port must supply the milliamps of current that the device requires. Other small media players are powered in the same way, so this idea might not be out of place. The problem is that 5V 2000mA from the USB port can be more than most HDTVs can supply. That's a good idea ? I'm looking for a power supply with better shielding. Pros and Cons noted, the Micca Speck G2 is "NOT PERFECT". but it works well enough.
