Could be a little thicker. I won't be using it on long hair, but it's great for men's haircuts. I posted a photo to show the clasp is exactly what it should be. Other people who think it's wrong use it wrong. You attach one side to the collar, then you can stretch the other side a little and pin it to the collar. The flaps don't snap together, they snap at the collar, giving you a snug, comfortable fit no matter your neck size.
