So first the pros and cons: Pros: - Good easy start. I had no idea how much I needed a soft start until I got it on this mill. Externally accessible brushes (many other grinders require access doors, etc.) The shape and grip are perfect for me, although I'm used to smaller grinders. Easy to manipulate without tools - Much power minus - Blocking trigger. I hate this feature. The lock is only available in the right hand when you hold the dial down. It's not reversible and the spring is WAY too heavy making it awkward when I try to screw it into the vise washer. I will eventually remove it - no trigger lock (while using a zip tie) - the mandrel nut is poorly designed because the holes are too small and too close together to use any wrench other than the one provided. I ended up switching to my Dewalt mom because I made a nice wrench with pins on one end and a real wrench on the other. That way I can use the same wrench to lock/unlock the nut and the other end to remove spoked wheels, cups, etc. The mandrel wrench does not have an open end, allowing it to take off stock wheels and cups that bolt on without a nut. - The meat grinder heats up a bit. It doesn't seem to go beyond the operating limits, but I was surprised that such an otherwise manageable tool would get hot with light use. Bottom line: This is a great grinder, but I'll look for Makita replacement parts to add a trigger lock. There are alternative models that do not have these trigger problems.
