My much larger full size oil heaters draw 630 watts (according to my voltmeter) which is about the best you can do without turning off the hot shut off. The same goes for all of my 1500 watt full size oil heaters. Cruel joke, I know. They work great for heating a room at a low 630w so I was ok buying this 700w mini unit thinking it would produce the same heat. A watt is a watt, right? Not even close. 700 W required area for heat dissipation in the room. You don't get that from a Mini. Same performance, less surface area, less heat dissipation. Maybe it's good for a bathroom or a small room or under a desk. But I suspect there are better options with even less power for these applications.
