It is a real pleasure to have a splint. I was looking for something that can mount Celestron C70 Mini Mak binoculars and Celestron SkyMaster 15x70 binoculars for astronomy purposes. Both pieces weigh almost 6 pounds on the rail, I was even able to rotate both 90 degrees on the Orion Paragon and nothing fell off, quite an achievement. In the photo I can use this to attach the rail to the tripod and put the payload on or off. It is recommended to purchase this plate if you prefer to slide the guide on rather than screw it on. To be honest, it's also a lot easier. I highly recommend buying both the plate and the splint!
