I bought one to ride two sports based on the roll chart. I have never used a scroll card holder. When I arrived in the evening the organizers were handing out buns and I and another guy with the same item started loading them up and we both wondered if the tape had gone over or under the screw in the middle. it doesn't turn out either because our two articles were upside down with the "inside". The instructions do not tell you to disassemble the item as it was delivered, NOT as you reassemble it. It's not really a big deal, but I just wrapped a 150 mile roll map and had to unroll it, peel off the tape and fold it on the other side. So if this is your first time using this, the screw in the middle holding the thing together should be moved towards the back (clamp) of the thing when reassembling, not forward. Another thing, these things really should be some sort of rubber band or something holding the two dials together. I forgot to take one and ended up wrapping, wrapping, wrapping myself as the top dial just unfolded and released the tension right after I advanced it, so I had to wind it up a lot only to re-tighten it after a few turns.
