This is our third air purifier. We use it in our bedroom (about 800 sq. ft.). We decided to replace our old air purifier that wasn't working well when the air was smoky from wildfires. We expect the Skye device to be good at handling smoke. I'm allergic and I'm mildly allergic to our dog. I need an air purifier to get rid of dog dander and pollen. We are in the middle of the summer allergy season. This device does a good job of removing pollen. The setting was a bit annoying. You must take the activated carbon/HEPA filter out of the plastic bag and insert it into the device. You also need to install a UV lamp. I understand. So that nothing breaks and the activated carbon filter is not damaged. I prefer plug and play. As soon as we started the device, we were prompted to install a phone application. We've had some confusion here. The instructions say to install the Air+Health app. I searched for "Air+Health" and didn't find anything useful. If you search for "AirHealth" you will find the app. Setting up the app and pairing it with the filter was pretty easy. There is also an Alexa skill for the device. I installed it with no problems. Make sure Alexa is allowed to search for new devices after installing the skill. All of this is great BUT why should I? Skye is installed fully automatically. There is nothing to control. Sure, it's fun to look into the app and see air quality, room temperature, and humidity. How often do I worry? The best thing about Skye is that once you turn it on, you don't have to do anything. It detects air quality and adjusts fan speed to optimize the filtration needed for clean air. It has an indicator light that lets you know when a new filter is needed. BTW, new filters are $80 each. I think each filter should last about a year. If we get a lot of smoke, a lot less. We plan to spend at least $80 a year to keep the device running. I also suspect that the UV lamp will also need to be replaced annually. I haven't done much research on this. I can't test how well Skye kills germs or purifies the air. This can only be done by a testing laboratory. I can tell you that it removes pollen and dog dander very well. I'm sure it will remove wildfire smoke as well.
