Some may wonder why I gave 5 stars to all the features listed but the overall rating is 1 star. We bought Miro because of the cleanliness issues that most humidifiers have. We created a homemade cleaning tool for our previous humidifier, but we were never able to effectively rid it of mold. Reviews for the Miro product were excellent and although the price seemed excellent for a small humidifier, we decided to purchase it for health reasons. I found the unit easy to assemble - contrary to other reviews, it worked on the first try. Plus, the wide base, which holds about 96 ounces of water, eliminates the need to carry around a heavy water tank (a plus for my significant other). Two short trips with a large bottle of Nalgene is enough to fill it up. Even without the supplied silencer, the device is very quiet. Miro was installed in our approximately 235 square foot bedroom with an 8.5 foot ceiling. After using it for the first week I was able to disassemble and clean it thoroughly, although there are a few deep grooved parts that require a Q-tip to adequately address. So why 1 star? We bought this as a humidifier and that's where this unit fails. I placed an AcuRite 00613 hygrometer within 7 feet of this unit and throughout the humidifier room. At a 7ft setting I noticed a 3-4% increase in humidity at normal operating levels (1/2 power). I then cranked the unit up to full blast to try to improve the humidity in the room even further. The reading improved slightly, but the entire side of the humidifier and the furniture got very damp. Also, quite a bit of water has accumulated in the grooves of the base - the moisture doesn't seem to reach much beyond the walls of the machine. The impact of this unit, which ran at almost full capacity for 2.5 hours this morning, is approximately 12.5ppm. feet from the hygrometer is 2%. And this despite the fact that the stove in our bedroom almost didn't work today, since it has a clear south-east orientation, and it was a bright sunny morning. The main function of a humidifier is to increase the moisture content of the air. Although I haven't measured it yet, I'm assuming that our essential oil diffuser has the same effect on indoor humidity as this machine. It's nice that Miro is easy to clean, but if it doesn't serve its primary purpose then it could be wall art. We will therefore likely return this for devices fit for purpose.
