Review on Aqueon Aquarium AAG29020 Versa 20 Inch by Chris Edgerton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

set expectations.

As another reviewer noted, the size of the aquarium lights and cover is based on the size of the aquarium, NOT the volume. This 20 inch glass cap is perfect for my 10 gallon tank because I measured it and the tank is 20 inches long. The glass lid is designed to fit the top frame of the tank, so it's actually a little less than 20 inches tall. to accommodate the top frame; If you have a rimless tank, measure carefully to determine if it actually sits on top of your tank. Don't mind a 1-2 inch wide open strip of water on the back of the top, just don't use it. If you want to use it and need to cut it off for filter, heater, air hoses etc, YOU WILL NEED TO USE A HOT KNIFE . The plastic is hard, not soft, and a hot knife cuts through it easily. I think you can cut it with a regular blade, but that seems like a recipe for heartbreak and possibly accidental injury. A hot knife cuts nice straight lines with little to no effort. The plastic part also has a top and a bottom: don't confuse the two concepts. Finally, the plastic handle that came with the lid broke. Since I wasn't planning on using it anyway (it's kinda ugly), I just glued a vintage cabinet handle to the glass. Whether you use the included plastic handle or your own, make sure you glue it to the correct side - the hinge at the top only flexes in one direction.
