Case requires charging separately from phone. When the phone is in a case and the case is plugged into an outlet, the case will charge and the phone battery will be reduced to 10%. When charged separately, the case generally works well, although the button that turns on the case's battery to charge the phone is too easy to press (e.g. when it's in your pocket). Previous battery phone cases allowed me to plug my phone into the battery compartment and charge the phone first and the battery second without draining the phone battery. The charge that the case holds is ok and given the capacity it's not too thick. So if I take a night trip, I don't. I need to make sure I bring the cable and charger. Generally this works for me as long as I charge the phone and case separately, but if I had to do it again I would buy a different brand. If I had known that the phone and case have to be charged separately, I would have made a different choice.
