Review on Exploring the Wasteland: A Deep Dive into Fallout 76 by Agata Weronika Bujok ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beyond praise! The product definitely deserves your attention.

If you haven't played Fallout 76, what is it like (recordings of the game video will never tell you anything but the most general features)? Fallout 4 added multiplayer and slightly improved graphics along with combat. The game still remains focused on a single passage i. E. there is no haste and confusion usual for multiplayer. You, like in Fallout 4, slowly clean up small locations (thanks for giving up the corridors, which take an hour to complete), read and listen to the records left. At the same time, the voice acting and texts are at least at the level of Fallout 4; in some cases, the voice actors did an even better job. For multiplayer, this is an exceptional situation. In Fallout 3-4 it was fun to build settlements and get items, the main problem was that there was no one to show them to. Now you can show off in front of living people. The best game I've bought in at least a year. The same TES Online turned out to be just a disappointment (disgusting graphics, complete secondary to previous TES games, etc.), while Fallout 76, I think, justified every out of 999 paid. PS: I have often seen and still see negative reviews of Fallout 4 and 76, but they usually don't contain even one constructive comment, it's just petrosyanism. In my opinion, Fallout 4 is the best game in the series, and Fallout 76 is the missing multiplayer for it. Fallout 3 and New Vegas had very weak combat (and combat in such games is one of the main ways to interact with the world, without interesting fights there will be no interesting game) and outdated graphics at the time of release. Fallout 1-2 are completely different games, with a different game world design and different gameplay. For those who do not remember, I remind you how many inconsistencies, exaggerations and alterations in the LOR were in them. Anyone who wants to return to Fallout 1-2 - play Wasteland 2+, and you will understand how ridiculous the embodiment of the ideas of Fallout 1-2 would look in 2022.

Pros
  • What is written mostly refers to comparisons with Fallout 4: - Improved combat, the death of bots has become less tacky. Considering that the lack of a sane combat system in Fallout 3 and New Vegas was one of their main shortcomings, the further improvement of the combat makes a positive impression. - Multiplayer, in general, continues the traditions of the Fallout 4 gameplay. The absence of bots talking on dialogue branches does not significantly spoil the gameplay. - Improved shaders, many existing models have clearly become more high-poly - Modified models of some characters. The models in F4 were based on Fallout 3 concepts and were mostly created by Adam Adamovich, who drew similar concepts for TES 4-5. Although Adamovich's vision of design cannot be called bad (he was a high-class professional, but not the highest class, as they sometimes try to imagine), when implemented in 3d, they turned out to be overloaded with small details and looked too exaggerated. Departure from Adamovich's design, I consider it a plus - High-quality game world. It is almost similar to F4, in some ways even more elaborate. In this sense, the game leaves behind any multiplayer competitors. - Most likely, there will be NPCs with dialogues. This indicates the further development of the project, which again pleases - The added battle royale is sure to please fans of the genre. Definitely better than the similar one in Warface, although it is not bad there (despite the general criticism of Warface)
Cons
  • - Inconvenient controls, now even different from F4 (workshop). And in F4, the default control was already disgusting. At the same time, changing keys for some commands is not available from the game menu - Advanced graphics settings are not available from the game menu. You can’t just take and choose even a smoothing method - Mediocre optimization, no CrossfireX support. - A purely multiplayer loot system (I would prefer a similar F4)
