Review on Pre-Wired Elitech STC-1000WiFi-TH Thermostat Temperature and Humidity Controller by Durioki Cordaro

A fatal mistake Suitable for testing, measuring and checking

This is an amazing device, especially for the price. The app works great and it's just amazing. It has an issue, and why I docked 1 star, there are limited Humidity/Temperature WARNING ranges. In other words, when they go over those ranges, this thing starts beeping very loudly. There is no way to turn this off on a device or app like many people here have said. However, I found a solution! If you open it and remove the beep, it still works but it stops beeping. Follow the instructions below using my pictures as a guide: WARNING YOU WILL BE SHOCKED (might even die) IF THIS THING IS CONNECTED IF YOU TOUCH THE PRINTED BOARD. MAKE SURE IT IS DISCONNECTED AND DO NOT TOUCH THE CAPACITORS! YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Steps: 1) Loosen the single screw on the back of the device over the cables that enter the device. 2) Carefully start disconnecting the device from the top (opposite side of the cables). I made it by hand but you can do it with a piece of plastic. 3) Once the board is opened up you will see a small black cylinder with a hole on top (see my drawing pointing to it for reference). 4) Find once, take pliers and slowly rock back and forth. Don't use force and don't move too much. I will say it again, BE GENTLE OR YOU WILL DESTROY THE PCB! 5) After some wiggling, it will come out on its own. It's actually designed to be detached from the PCB with 2 pins (see image for reference). Ready! You'll never hear that thing beep again. PS, if a manufacturer adds a mute option to a device or app, I give it 5 stars.

Pros
  • temperature and humidity
Cons
  • boring packaging
