We don't have many things to destroy, so this portable device is perfect for us. I love that it runs on battery instead of an outlet because I can toss it in a drawer, take it to my computer, or keep it on a closet shelf next to a trash can. I'm just making a sheet of paper folded in three so you can see that shredding is out of the question. And the scraps are a little wide; They could technically be brought together in a humble spy operation in a roadside dumpster. For a select group of users, however, it's pretty damn handy, space-efficient and can be held over the trash can when shredding. I've never used bags before and never will: for us it's an unnecessary feature. When you need to shred a random document, this is one of those purchases that is unexpectedly nice at home.
