Great color, connection and price, but no resolution

I really like this monitor, barring at least one issue for me. A bit of history first, I've been using a dual monitor setup for a few years now. Both DELL monitors, a 27" 4K and a 24" QHD. I really liked this setting for the most part, except I thought photos looked a bit softer on a QHD monitor, which is what I should have expected compared to 4K. However, having recently upgraded my computer, I decided to upgrade my 24" monitor to a 27" just like my 4K monitor. Many people think that a 27-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) monitor is good for viewing photos and a 27-inch 4K monitor is overkill for this size. That's why I chose the DELL U2722DE monitor for its 100% sRGB color gamut, great usability as a USB-C hub, and price. Now that I've been using the monitor for a few weeks, I can give my opinion. First, for the most part, I really like this monitor. However, photos still appear soft on the monitor at my usual viewing distance, and this is where my choice may have influenced my decision. It makes sense that a lower QHD monitor would look softer than a 4K monitor at the same distance. After further research, the appropriate viewing distance for a QHD monitor is just over 30 inches, while the appropriate viewing distance for a 4K monitor is just over 20 inches. As it turns out, I set about 20 inches away from both of my monitors, split between them so the QHD monitor looks smoother. If I move more in front of the 4K monitor and further away from the QHD monitor, both seem to have about the same sharpness. For me I'm currently showing Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop on a 4K monitor to do all my adjustments and then use the QHD monitor to display a full size photo to get the right color. What I like: - Excellent color reproduction - Excellent connectivity - Virtually borderless bezel - Easy setup - Price What I don't like: - Resolution up close

Pros
  • Dell
Cons
  • nutritional problems. If the monitor's power supply is not working properly, it may cause the display to flicker or turn off.
