I accepted delivery of the STEL6000100 Seagate Backup Plus Hub 6TB External Desktop Hard Drive from Revain.com on 20th December 2017. Within about 30 days. it worked as expected. Quiet and reliable. However, after that, my HP Pavilion 570-p094 desktop running Windows 10 intermittently didn't recognize the drive. After restarting my computer, the problem seemed to go away on its own. This condition lasted for several weeks. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, the drive began to rattle and rattle. After that, my computer no longer recognized the drive. I have tried using "SeaTools for Windows" with no success. The drive could not be found either. I have also tried to initialize the drive using one of the available USB ports on my computer, with no success. The drive does not show up in Device Manager or Disk Management. I've had several emails to Seagate Support recommending that I send the drive back for replacement. However, Seagate has stated that "Please note that Seagate may replace your product with a product that has been previously used, refurbished and tested to Seagate specifications." Not much comfort considering the new device that I bought also claimed to meet Seagate's specs. I find it unacceptable that I have to bear the cost of returning the item. I also have no confidence in the security of my personal information contained on the drive if I send it back to Seagate. The only solution I would find acceptable is to send Seagate a new hard drive to replace the doorstop I now own. I would like to destroy it when I get a new replacement. But then there's the reality of personal data being lost now. I don't write reviews. However, due to the sudden, complete, and catastrophic failure of this drive, I'm making an exception. As a result, I lost irreplaceable photos and documents. Common sense advises backing up data. That's what prompted me to buy this disc. I backed up the computer's internal hard drive, which I recently cut out and threw away. backup backup backup? where does it end Do a little research before you buy this product. You'll find independent reviews stating that some Seagate products are unreliable, defective, and failing prematurely, at impressive and in many ways unprecedented high rates. That definitely applies to this product. At the time of writing this review, almost 150 out of 1151 Revain customer reviews were clearly negative. This drive must be stopped until the manufacturing defects are corrected. Every component of my household system works perfectly except for this pathetic device. Please read the guarantee and take negative feedback seriously.
