After dealing with an HP inkjet fax machine at my restaurant that kept jamming and drying out, I decided I needed a compact laser that would fit in the allotted space. account except that it was white and all other devices in the area were black. After unboxing the unit I used masking tape to cover up the black areas and any exposed electronics. With a simple flat black spray can I was able to make everything black. No one can tell it was drawn even if I show them. The first problem has been fixed. I've had the device for about 7 months and it works perfectly. It even uses the same toner as my Brother wireless printer, which is also a bonus. Last week, of course, I stumbled upon the curse of the DEEP SLEEP that's been talked about so much. The machine half rings and behaves strangely, but does not receive faxes. After some research and experimentation, a solution was found, although Brother decided to hide this feature. You can disable DEEP SLEEP. Go to General Settings, Environment, Quiet Mode. When prompted to change your bedtime, press the START and DOWN ARROW buttons at the same time. Now you will get a hidden option to disable DEEP SLEEP mode. Turn it off and enjoy faxing for years to come.
