I may have a defective device. Whether I did it or not doesn't matter as there is no way to calibrate it. All I know is that I received useless equipment. Relative humidity readings were reduced by 20% at best. Most of the time they were 80-100% lower (I've NEVER seen a hygrometer exceed a fixed percentage before calibrating, so this one is REALLY broken). I have several calibrated hygrometers to check accuracy. this one, and I've rechecked the calibration of all of them that I've compared to this one earlier. I was hoping to get a hygrometer that I didn't need to calibrate. This is a massive failure. Unless, of course, what you really want from a hygrometer isn't even a rough estimate of actual humidity. have the ability to verify a hygrometer's accuracy (like I do) and many of the good reviews specifically mention that they don't have the ability to verify the readings. The bottom line is that this device cannot be trusted to provide accurate readings. I absolutely wouldn't buy this unless you have some way of verifying its accuracy. I ended up replacing my block with a calibratable one, but guess what? When the manufacturer said it was factory calibrated, it really was! Here's the one I recommend instead of Inkbird.
