I've been using them for five nights now and surprisingly they still work. After a day of charging, the LED stays on until morning. It's not really something that will light up the night, but it will help you find your door or whatever you place next to it. In the insect killing function, the violet light is even weaker. I can't comment on the bug that removes the ability, but it will definitely shock you when you can't resist touching the web like I did. The weather here has just gotten colder and the mosquitoes have fortunately gone to rest. I get the impression you won't attract many bugs, but those who accidentally walk in will regret it. Hey, they're $10. I'm glad they work at all.
