I have used some of Adventure Medical's small first aid kits in our other hiking/camping bags and so far have been happy with them. I am in the process of putting together a more durable and better equipped first aid kit for our family to take on long hikes or just in the car. Kits can be quite expensive, and of course you're paying for the convenience of building them. The main thing you pay for in this particular trauma kit is a 25g coagulation sponge. They also make a larger 50g sponge and both can be bought individually here at Revain but are pricey. For a few dollars more, this particular kit includes a few extra pads, gauze wrap, cleaning wipes, tape, gloves, a quick start guide, and a waterproof storage bag. gives you a tool better suited for large/deep cuts. I also added an Israeli headband to my kit. This kit contains everything you need when you want a smaller but deeper and more traumatic cut where band-aid or gauze alone won't do.
