I noticed that some of the other reviewers have mentioned that after a few uses they have had problems with the rough brown top of these sponges. I've used mine for a total of 5 flushes and so far they're holding up well. I've attached a picture of the sponge I used and the only place it goes up is in one of the corners. Even then it's not that bad. This is nothing out of the ordinary compared to most of my other sponges that I'm used to. I really like the look of these lips. I have a minimal earthy and natural kitchen style and these sponges look so much better than the colorful sponges I'm used to. They work almost the same, but it makes my kitchen look more aesthetic and organic. I would like to mention that the brown part of the top shell is quite rough and the first time I used it I squeezed it and actually cut my finger. It wasn't bad, but it just surprised me because I'm not used to such sharp lips on top. Just be careful how you handle it and you'll be fine. However, because of their coarseness, they are very effective at removing solids that have stuck to food.
