Review on Dorman Center High Mount Stop Light - Enhanced for Selected Audi Models (923-230) by Sam Simone

I had a terrible third problem with a brake light on a B8 S4, didn't want to lose $180 on OEM so decided to give it a try despite some negative reviews. The installation didn't go as badly as I expected, but it wasn't perfect either. First, the plastic case and rubberized finish are more fragile than the original device, so you need to be very careful when installing it. I also had one side where the metal clip kinda popped out and didn't let it push in and snap into place. Make sure the metal tab curves UNDER the plastic. On the other hand, the plastic wasn't exactly the right shape to not press all the way down. The plastic tab hit the metal part of the slider that attaches to the windshield, preventing it from fully engaging. I expect a lot of people will come across this because it's a pretty cheap product. When you do this, make sure to place your thumb on the plastic casing just below this area and GENTLY push up and back. I had to massage it a bit but eventually it snapped in and I managed without breaking the plastic and keeping the rubber intact. Conclusion: It is a satisfactory replacement. It's not super high quality, but you're not paying the price for super high quality either. If you can resist trying to put the Incredible Hulk in his place, it should work. It looks almost the same as the factory unit and works for 1/3 the OEM price. Definitely recommend.
