My kit didn't have a 'bottom plate' so there is absolutely no support when your pet is inside and you lift the carrier. My kitten was also able to get out by sticking his nose between the two zippers and squeezing out. By the way, she is only 12 weeks old. I'll just take a hard case and donate it to an animal shelter, maybe they can figure out how to make it more durable and somehow keep it out.
