They're bright enough to spot them from a distance or find something in the trunk, but I wouldn't say they'd even bother with a lit one Compare rocket. The packaging is solid, I've never broken one, and the little loop at the top is handy for attaching to clothing. They will slowly fade over a period of around 10-15 minutes, but will still emit a few hours of light, although not to the extent of the longer lasting glow sticks from the same company. I bought a set last year to help my band get together at music festival nights and I have some left over for this year. They worked well and didn't seem to suffer from sitting in my car out of the box for several weeks, instead being wrapped in foil. If every lumen counts (bright stickers, I'm looking at you) then these are the brightest I've found, but for most purposes I'd probably recommend more durable ones from the same company.
